Janice Scott is the perfect compliment to the existing UREEQA Advisory Board, joining Michael Sheresky & Ramses IsHak of United Talent Agency and Kevin Leflar of officialCOMMUNITY.

Janice knows the ins and outs of the music industry and knows how it works behind the scenes from a Creator’s point of view, and from a copyright perspective.

Scott’s extensive knowledge was borne through a 40-year career she built in right fitting technology to solve business problems, with the last 15 years in the music industry at SOCAN, the rights management organization that connects more than four million music Creators worldwide including Shawn Mendes, Drake, Grimes and Deadmau5.

As Vice-President of IT at SOCAN, Scott emersed herself in the business by truly understanding the challenges that Creators face in being recognized and paid for their creations. SOCAN boasts more than 150,000 songwriters, composers, music publishers and visual artists as its direct members and, with the use of progressive technology, Scott aided SOCAN’s focus on having Creators and publishers obtain fair compensation for their work.

While at SOCAN, Scott moved onto its newly formed subsidiary, Dataclef, as Chief Operating Officer. Dataclef was created to provide solutions supporting music licensing, related data management and digital technology. “Our goal was to develop a one go-to place for state-of-the-art license administration and royalty tracking with a music database from more than 200 world territories.”

“The music industry continues to face challenges in trying to get things done. Further changes are needed”, Scott noted. “We worked hard at SOCAN, we took the next step at Dataclef and UREEQA is now ready to help tackle important aspects of the problem with blockchain technology.”

“Janice Scott has built companies from scratch, tackled the pervasive music industry problem of Creator’s having their Work, Rights and Revenue protected, and has done so through the use of technology over her decades long career. Janice brings balance to our UREEQA Advisory Board” Harsch Khandelwal, UREEQA CEO said.

Added Scott: “Creators need an easy way to register and protect the ownership of their creations in the ecosystem of copyright to help them get paid. I’ve dedicated my career to making sure there are solutions at the backend of the process and now, UREEQA, is laser focused in finding a solution to ownership, authorship & originality at the outset. I’m thrilled to be joining the UREEQA Advisory Board.”

As Khandelwal added “With Janice we’ve combined decades of music industry experience, deep technological experience and global organizational experience with the ability to build projects from scratch to solve an important problem for Creators. Janice really is the perfect compliment to what we’re building as a UREEQA Advisory Board.”

About UREEQA

The UREEQA platform strives to protect Creators’ work, their rights and their revenue by harnessing the power of blockchain technology.

Established in Canada in 2020, UREEQA will modernize the inefficient and bureaucratic systems currently in place for copyright, patent, industrial design and trademark protection. By building a robust and compelling Package of Proof for source creative work, UREEQA only mints Validated NFTs to represent creative rights. This helps keep buyers safe by giving them confidence that the work they are purchasing was minted by the smart contract approved by the creator of the work and is therefore authentic.

UREEQA provides value and opportunities for its Creators, Validators and Tokenholders via URQA, the token at the heart of the UREEQA ecosystem.
